Design Conference Takeaways

This was my first time to attend Circles Design Conference, and it was totally rad! And yeah, 80’s themed. Not only did attendees get sweet swag, but great insight from the following peeps. These were my takeaways… DAY ONE — Mikey Burton @mikeyburton Say YES! even when you should probably say no. Especially to the…… Continue reading Design Conference Takeaways

Rob Bell & a new American Christianity

I grew up in the church and after nearly 30 years of weekly sermons, bible studies, sunday school, kids events, youth events, as an attendee and volunteer, the message can sometimes feel a bit redundant, albeit still good. In my 20’s my mind was asking lots of question and pondering ideas that didn’t have specific…… Continue reading Rob Bell & a new American Christianity

…To Love Well

Eight ladies and three men decided to take a trip to Guyana, South America. To share God’s love. I didn’t know what to expect, but I wanted to join. On Friday, June 24, we headed out to begin the adventure. For those of you familiar with  the 80’s movie “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” staring Steve…… Continue reading …To Love Well

11,000+ miles in 30 days

I had great photo plans for this roadtrip but it didn’t quite go as planned. I’ve come to realize when I’m traveling to visit friends and family I haven’t seen in a while, the photography goes on the backburner as there’s so much to catch up on. Even though I love shooting photography, my top…… Continue reading 11,000+ miles in 30 days

Experimenting with Steel Wool Photography

Oh, the fun of playing with fire… Headed out to the country with a friend this past weekend to experiment with lighting steel wool on fire and seeing what kind of imagery we might obtain. I must say, we weren’t disappointed.  A couple rounds of perfecting the packing of the steel wool in the whisk…… Continue reading Experimenting with Steel Wool Photography

West 7th St. Bridge, Fort Worth TX

Met friends for another bridge outing, this time in Fort Worth, the West 7th Street Bridge. I’m happy with these pictures but didn’t quite get the trailing lights I was hoping for. There’s so little traffic later in the evenings in stark contrast with the dreadful DFW traffic at rush hour. At one point I…… Continue reading West 7th St. Bridge, Fort Worth TX

We are like the orange…

Sitting outside on an unusually crisp and cool morning with my orange in hand, I begin peeling back the skin and tossing it into my bowl so I can get to the “good part.” A hundred different thoughts about the past and the upcoming week flood my mind. Then I remember that I’m trying to…… Continue reading We are like the orange…

Bridge Architecture, MHHB Dallas

I love the wiry suspension of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas so when thinking about my next photo outing, it quickly came to mind. The bridge is named after Margaret Hunt Hill, an heiress and philanthropist. Construction began in Spring 2007 and the bridge opened in Spring 2012. I’m not sure about downtime,…… Continue reading Bridge Architecture, MHHB Dallas
